Historical synthesis of the East Providence
Christian Rationalism Center
Located on 410 Waterman Avenue, City of East Providence – RI, USA, this Center gave its first steps in the nearby city of Providence, where it was established in August 8th 1992, with the initial name of Christian Redeemer Center of Providence.
The above-mentioned name appeared as a result of the efforts of a handful of individuals, all of them Christians Rationalists who, fighting initially with many difficulties, created the necessary and sufficient conditions to make this objective real.
It is of elementary justice to point out the names of its founders who were the following: Herculano Andrade, Emmanuel Almada Santiago, Jorge Oliveira Miranda, Arlinda Almada Santiago, Josefa Andrade, Antonio Costa, Filomena Delgado, Arminda Fernandes and Henry Rodrigues.
They did follow, with rigidity, the directions emanated from the Headquarter of Christian Rationalism in Brazil and so, managed, in 28 of February of the year of 1992, to carry out its first session of psychic cleansing in the basement of a building located at 155 Ivy Street of the city of Providence with a small group. The official legalization before the state of Rhode Island was recognized on July 6th of the same year, where a permit was obtained authorizing the beginning of its activity.
At present, the Providence Branch of Christian Rationalism, which started to work in the current installations in November 6th 2004, is a regional representative of the Headquarter of the Christian Rationalism in Brazil. The Branch has about ninety members and a monthly presence of 900 people.
The actual building was previously a church. It was remodeled and prepared, gaining, so, a certainty functionality to satisfy the requisites for which its finality was destined. It disposes of a wide and comfortable room for sessions, children, as well as spacious room intended for cultural activities.
The room is intended to be used as a library, with books of the doctrine; it is presumed to be functioning soon.
The above-mentioned building, in itself, offers the best conditions of comfort to the members and assistance in general; above all, it is situated in an area of the City.
